Adaora Mbelu is a bright light passionate about purpose, storytelling, and creating impactful change. As co-founder of Lumination, a Creative Strategy and Transformational Learning Company, she empowers individuals and organizations to unlock their potential and bring their best selves and work into the world. An accomplished Brand Strategist and Chief Storyteller, Adaora thrives on helping others own and articulate their unique narratives. She has worked with global brands such as Google, Guinness, Johnnie Walker, Microsoft, Hennessy, PepsiCo, Zipline, Fenty, and Adidas. Her expertise extends to managing and supporting the talents of notable individuals, including Osa Seven, Phisha, Tobi Bakre, Godwin Strings, and Denola Grey.

Adaora’s career spans diverse industries, blending creativity with strategic excellence. She has contributed as a content developer to high-profile events like the UNWTO Conference, Nigeria Centenary Awards, and the International Conference on Peace & Security. As Project Manager for Fremantle-licensed TV shows Nigerian Idol and Nigeria’s Got Talent, she managed the business, branding, and production of the shows. During the 2010 FIFA World Cup, Adaora served as Corporate Communications Manager for OSMI, overseeing broadcast rights communications for Nigeria. OSMI also marketed broadcast licenses for leagues such as the UEFA Champions League, FA Premier League, and La Liga. Earlier in her career, she worked as a Credit Analyst at Citigroup USA, where she earned accolades for organizational efficiency and team spirit.

Her remarkable contributions have earned her numerous accolades, including being named by Entrepreneur Magazine as one of “11 Africans Changing the Business Landscape in Africa” and receiving the Royal Leadership Award from His Imperial Majesty, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife. She has been a nominee for the Future Awards Africa in the “Entrepreneur of the Year” and “Prize for Media Enterprise” categories and was named “Most Inspiring Woman” at the Her Network Woman of the Year Awards in 2019. Adaora has been recognized as one of Nigeria’s Under 40 CEOs, Top 30 Under 30, and one of the 100 Most Influential People of African Descent in 2020.

At just 16, Adaora represented Nigeria at the Global Young Leaders Conference in the USA. During her time at Northern Kentucky University, she received multiple honors, including Outstanding Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior awards, and was a recipient of the Spirit of Entrepreneurship Scholarship by The Castellini Foundation.

Beyond her professional achievements, Adaora is the author of “This Thing Called Purpose,” a book that explores the essence of living purposefully. A multi-potentialite, she expresses her creativity as a visual artist, curator, designer, photographer, poet, rapper, and actress. In 2019, she co-produced and starred in “Truth,” an AMVCA award-winning TV series on Africa Magic.

She is also deeply committed to community development as the founder of Socially Africa, a foundation focused on giving back through various initiatives. Adaora inspires her growing social media community by sharing transformational content, helping others live with clarity, purpose, and intentionality. She believes in using her gifts to spark love, innovation, and progress, embodying the philosophy that we can do many things in this world—and do them exceptionally.

Adaora Mbelu is a Bright Light who is on a mission to empower individuals and organisations to take decisive action to get their best work out into the world, while living a purpose driven life. She is a co-founder at Lumination, an Afrocentric Transformational Learning Company. She is also a brand strategist & Chief Storyteller who is passionate about helping individuals & organisations own and tell their stories – she has worked on projects with multinational brands including Google, Guinness, Johnny Walker, Microsoft, Hennessy, Fenty, Pepsi Co, Zipline, Adidas, amongst others.

Her professional background spans across various industries – Adaora has served as a content developer on high profile government events, such as the International Conference on Peace & Security and the United Nations World Tourism Organization Conference to name a few. She was also the project manager for Fremantle Licensed TV Shows, Nigerian Idol and Nigeria’s Got Talent, and worked on X Factor Nigeria. Adaora was the Corporate Communications Manager for OSMI during the 2010 World Cup managing all communications on the broadcast rights for Nigeria.

She has been mentioned in Entrepreneur Magazine’s “11 Africans that are changing the business landscape in Africa.” She is a two time Future Awards Africa Nominee and a recipient of the Royal Leadership Award by His Imperial Majesty, The Ooni of Ife.
